The Root River State Trail construction work is done! The 8.9-mile segment of the Root River State Trail between Peterson and Whalan reopened as scheduled on Friday, September 4. This segment now has new bridges and new pavement. Whether you bike or inline skate the trail or canoe, kayak or tube the Root River, visit the Rushford Peterson Valley this fall for amazing autumn colors. Experience Taste of the Trail in Peterson on September 12 and in Rushford on September 26.
County Road 25 through Peterson: The road construction in Peterson is underway. County Road 25 and underground utilities are being replaced through town. Vehicle and bicycle traffic can detour around the construction to continue west and north on County Road 25. Traveling by car, cross the Root River bridge and take a left (south) for one or two blocks before turning right (west) to S. Church St., which is also County Road 25. Travelers can access Burdey’s Cafe, Turned Write Handcrafted Art, Geneva’s Hideaway & Tube, Canoe & Kayak Rentals, Andor Wenneson Historic Inn, The Crossing Bed & Breakfast, Peterson City Campground, and all local businesses, as well as the Root River State Trail.
